In order to better support the CBE efforts to engage parents through the Council of School Councils (COSC) and ease the October education related meeting load on members, the Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils will be canceling its October meeting and would instead like to invite you to join us for the CBE Council of School Councils meeting on Thursday October 25th.   Our executive team will be attending the meeting, doing a presentation of CAPSC and participating in all discussions.

We will also be able to accept your membership renewals during the evening, so don't forget to bring your payment for the new school year!  If you have questions regarding your membership status or if you would like to renew ahead of time, please contact our Communications Coordinator

Council of School Councils meeting details:

Location: Education Centre (1221 8th Street SW)

We will be back on Wednesday November 21st (7:00pm A.E. Cross school library 3445 - 37 Street SW) with an exciting meeting on how School and Parent Advisory Councils can make better use of social media.  Our keynote speakers will be the Denise Kitagawa, Past President, of the Calgary Science School Council.  Their school council has been an early adopter of social media tools and Denise will share their experiences with us.
Cathy Faber, Superintendent of Learning Innovation, will also discuss the CBE successes and experiences with social media and what policy issues, such as concern for student privacy, impact the use of social media by parent councils.
Several others with experience in social media may present as well.

We hope to see you at both these events.
