January meeting follow up

CAPSC would like to thank Jillian Millar Drysdale and Karen Lloyd for speaking at our meeting.  They discussed the Safe Streets Initiative which aims to have playground and school zone times align to accommodate all school start times.
Please see our blog for information on the initiative and click here to sign the petition.

We also want to thank all of our members who were in attendance to provide feedback on methods for facilitating communication between school councils. The executive team has taken the results back for discussion and hopes to soon provide or facilitate a method that can better help our member's communication with each other.

What's new on our website??

We've been busy finding new items to help you and your school councils.  Please check out some of the new content we've added to our website.

RBC After School Project - Offering After School grants across Canada, RBC is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year.  For full details and deadlines, please see our blog.

Internet savvy - Created for Albertan parents, this site is full of tools that can be used to become more familiar with the internet and applications that children are using.  There are lots of considerations when talking about internet safety and like most things, the more you know, the better you are when it comes to talking to your child about it.  It's a very user-friendly website, so be sure to check it out and share with other parents at your school.

secondlanguageparent.wordpress.com - Not only does this blog offer excellent information for parents of children in language programs, it is written by one of our very own executive members!  Check it out for great resources, especially if your children are in Spanish and French language programs.
