Seasons Greetings

The CAPSC executive team would like to send along warm wishes to you and your family this holiday season.  We hope you have the chance to spend time with family and friends, as we will be doing the same.

As such, we will not be hosting a meeting in December, but look forward to seeing you again in the new year.  Our first meeting back will be on Wednesday January 15th 7-9:00pm. CBE will be presenting on changes in reporting student progress, and we will be hosting the meeting at the CBE Education Centre, Multi-purpose room - 1221 - 8 Street SW.

Free underground parking will be provided (access off 12 Avenue).

This meeting will be CAPSC-led, as per our usual meeting format, with speakers from the CBE in attendance to present.  As always, the meeting is open to the public, so please be sure to join us.

This will also be a great time to purchase your CAPSC membership - don't forget, deadline to purchase is January 31st!

Happy holidays to you and yours!

November meeting follow up - Fundraising

At our November meeting, we hosted a discussion surrounding non-casino fundraising.  The conversation centred around three areas:  Community/school-based fundraising, commercial fundraisers and fund spending examples.  Members in attendance were encouraged to share stories and experiences from their own schools.  The summary of all the discussion, as well as helpful tips and considerations, can be found here.

We have also been provided with a local school's list of council activities.  Many of the ideas discussed during the CAPSC meeting are included in this list, but feel free to use this organizational sheet to create a template for your own council.

Thank you to everyone who participated - we received some really helpful and creative ideas to share.

Traffic Safety Update

Our Traffic Safety Awards Night on November 6 brought stakeholders, schools, councils and families together to celebrate the success of our first Calgary School Traffic Safety Week. Thanks to YMCA Calgary for hosting this event and the Young Canadians for providing entertainment, and to all of the judges, organizations and businesses that provided support for this event. You'll find details on this year's events and our traffic safety tools in our event summary.
